Things To Do to Achieve The Perfect Bedroom Layout
One of the biggest problems that you can ever encounter when moving into a house for rent is the small bedroom space. We all know how important it is for you to keep your bedroom as peaceful, clutter-free and relaxing as possible so you can achieve the rest that you need after a long day at work.
Sadly, a crowded, improperly arranged and messy bedroom will leave you no room for rest. Because of this, you have to ensure that you will do everything you need to do to achieve the perfect layout for your bedroom. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
Use only the furniture that you need.
Since you do not have lots of space in your room, then it is a must that you stick only to the items that you need. The smaller the room is, the lesser the furniture you can place in it. This is why you must make sure that you will place only what you need– not everything that you want.
Draw your idea.
It is recommended that you try out different bedroom layouts. However, pushing your furniture from one corner to the other is not a good idea. One good way to test out layouts is by putting your ideas in a paper. Try to get the measurements of your biggest pieces of furniture and the dimension of your bedroom then plan the layout accordingly. If you think you are not artistic enough, you can try using different home design apps.
Always think about function.
When arranging the layout of your bedroom, one of the things that you should consider is your lifestyle and your daily routine. It’s not just about the aesthetics– it should be about the function too.
Start with the bed.
When you are ready to start arranging your furniture inside your bedroom, then we recommend that you focus on the bed first. When you take a look at different bedrooms, the beds are usually backed up against the walls. When you have limited space, you may have to break such rules from time to time. Just simply find a spot which you think would work well for your daily routine and personal preferences. Just make sure that your bed won’t get in the way of your cabinets and drawers.
Begin with the bigger ones.
Once you have finalized where you will place your bed, then you can move on to the other aspects of your bedroom. We recommend that you start with arranging the bigger items followed only by the smaller ones. It is best that you proceed with finding a place for your dresser, then your bedside table, desks, so on and so forth.
Planning the layout of your bedroom is an art. This is most especially true if you have limited bedroom space in your house. Keep the tips given above in mind so you can be able to increase your chances of planning the perfect layout.

We have a few pieces of furniture that have been placed in our bedroom, simply because they have no other place to go. I would like to boot them out the door so that I can change the bedroom layout.
I like the headline, “Use only what you need.” That is what I have done but I am sure with your tips I could always improve.
Um, those bedrooms are all gorgeous!
Mine is pretty big, about 12×14 or 12×16, but my apt. as a whole is small (670 sq feet).
Really great examples of room arrangements. I love rearranging my bedroom however we have 2 long dressers since my husband and I have to many clothes. So unfortunately there’s not a lot of room left on where to put everything especially since we have a big window and a door wall in our bedroom. But reading this is making me think of how we can rearrange everything. Thanks for the tips they are pretty helpful.
I love your pictures… All layout are wonderful. Need to figure out size of bedroom and incorporate accordingly. Thanks for sharing
Wow, all the bedrooms are beautiful. These are all great tips. I agree that pushing the bed against a wall is not the easiest way to use your bed but I have definitely lived in a couple places where it was the only option. So glad that’s not the case anymore!
Starting with the bed is so smart since it usually takes up the most space. I like the idea of thinking of function first.
My bedroom has a strange layout because of where the windows are. So, the furniture is all placed where it makes most sense. Thankfully, it doesn’t look horrible. It’s just messy!
Love your tips and ideas. Our problem is we don’t really have a closet. Just a non-functioning built in wardrobe. I would love to rip it out and start over.
These rooms are awesome! I wish we had the ability to paint but with renting right now we are restircted. someday when we buy this will be forever in my head thank you!
This is totally my kind of post…I do not like small bedrooms at all but to know how to decorate them is most welcome

I just got rid of half of my clothes since my closet is so much smaller. You have to be nifty on thinking of storage ideas.
Great tips! I can use these in my house too.
I am only in there to sleep, so I don’t have a specific set up in mine.
These are all so beautiful! I’m not good at interior design, but these make me want to, at least, try 🙂
Thanks for the tips! We live in an apartment and our bedroom is probably smaller than most peoples, since we decided to give the kids the bigger bedroom now that they share a room.
I always have ideas, but no vision, only what I want a space to feel like! It gets really frustrating, especially because we just recently moved into a new house! I really need to hire some people to just do it lol!

My last apartment had a tiny master bedroom. It was fun arranging that room. There was only a few options with a queen bed. I’m thankful I have a huge master bedroom now.

Are bedroom layout always seems squeezed. We don’t have good placement of windows and built-in cabinets aligned with the closets to let us maximize the space. You are so right about making sure everything revolves around placing the bed in the best location. As always some good tips from your blog in this post!

As a renter in NYC I have a super small apartment so bedroom space and closet space are at a premium already it is challenging to find the layout that gives me the look of wider space than I actually have! Thanks for the ideas.
I could have used this info in my old place. Man did we ever have challenges with our bedroom there.
Those bedroom layout pics remind me of the ones I see on HGTV. All gorgeous, but we have such a small bedroom, I don’t think any of them would work.
