Become A Happy Tenant With These Renting Tips

There is an upward trend on the number of people who are renting nowadays. Sources say that there is a spike in the number of students and even young adults who are now renting apartments or houses.

With the number of tenants going up, it’s quite not surprising to see the number of houses and apartments for rent in the market. Also, the issues and disputes between the landlords and tenants are starting to shoot up as well. These issues make renting a home a bit stressful. So if you wanted to become a happy tenant and as much as possible, avoid any troubles that may occur, here are few tips and advice that you must know about.

Challenge The Fees

There are times that landlords will try to charge you with fees that are somewhat against the law. There are places where charging fees for credit checks and postage fees are prohibited. So make sure that you know the rules and laws about it. If your landlord will charge you for fees other than the rental fee itself, make sure to check if its allowed by the law at your area. If not, tell your landlord about it and ask him to waive it at your bill.

Check The Tenancy Agreement Carefully

Make sure that you read and understand what is covered and what is not with your rental agreement. Before fully signing in, ask yourself if the agreement is something that you can live with. If you find something that is unclear to you, ask your landlord about it. Don’t sign unless you are fully sure that you won’t have a problem with what’s written in the contract soon.

Get A Good And Reliable Guarantor

If you are a student or you don’t have a full time work yet, your landlord may ask you to provide a guarantor. Usually, it’s the parents. So make sure to inform your parents about the terms of agreement and let them know about the fees as well.

Check What Is Provided

If your rental agreement says that you are provided with certain appliances or furniture in good condition, check it. Make sure that what is said in the agreement really exists at your rented home and it’s in good condition, without damage whatsoever, as stated at your agreement.
